CE UMALAS HOUSE

Umalas Residence Renovation is a design proposal for the spatial reconfiguration project of an existing house in Umalas, Bali, originally built in 2005. The design approach focuses on enhancing spatial quality and functionality while respecting the original tropical modern character, including its distinctive pitched roof. The proposal prioritizes maintaining openness, natural light, and cross ventilation as key architectural principles.

Key interventions are driven by functional and climatic considerations. In the kitchen area, full-height pivot windows are introduced to mitigate rainwater ingress while preserving airflow and visual continuity. A sliding glass partition is added to subtly define indoor and semi-outdoor zones without compromising spatial openness, allowing flexibility in how the space is used.
